The Indo-US Workshop on Innovative materials and structural systems for resilient and sustainable built infrastructure is proposed as a joint collaborative effort by the scientists and researchers from India and the United States working on the various aspects of built infrastructure.
The primary objective of this workshop is to review the state-of-the art in this field and to identify areas of collaborative research aimed at enhancing the resilience and sustainability of built infrastructure in both natural (e.g., earthquake, tsunami, etc.) and man-made (e.g., blast, impact, etc.) extreme loading scenarios.
These would, of course, include looking at innovative materials analysis of loads and design issues...
-
In addition to the development of prospective research agenda, the workshop is also aimed at facilitating continuing relationship between Indian and US researchers in the theme areas of the workshop and developing the framework required for such a cooperation; with an emphasis to enabling development of collaborative research proposals from junior researchers from both countries. The workshop is proposed to focus on four major themes:
a) Innovative Materials, b) Resilient Structural Systems, c) Structural Health Monitoring, d) Sustainability Issues for Built Infrastructure.
The two-day workshop will be composed of four technical sessions, and an inaugural and a closing session...
- Each technical session would have one keynote lecture each from India and USA, followed by a panel discussion on the theme the panel would consist of experts from both India and USA. The recommendations and resolutions from the workshop would be presented in the concluding session. In addition, there will be laboratory tours and informal social exchanges. The final outcome of the workshop is envisioned to be a greatly increased research partnership among the Indian and US researchers in the field of built infrastructure aimed at enhancing the performance and sustainability of these structures in both the countries in extreme loading scenarios.
