Evaluation

Quizes (4x5) 20
Class participation 20
Mid Sem 25
End Sem 35
Total 100

The weights may be changed slightly (+/- 5).

Evaluation policy

  1. AA Grade for about max top 10% students, AB Grade for about max next top 15%, BB Grade for about max next top 20%, BC Grade for about max next top 15%, CC, CD, DD Grade for the rest, and FR grade if total marks less than 40%.

  2. I will not be taking any attendance. However, students are encouraged to attend all the class and actively participate. Moreover, there will be marks for the class participation and will be alloted as follows:

  3. Those who want class participation mark should maintain a SEPARATE lecture note book. Do not share this note book with other course, as it will be taken periodically for evaluation. Files and loose papers are not acceptable.
  4. During each lecture, student should write important points of the lecture (such as brief notes, equations, sketches, etc). Many lectures have numerical which may be partially solved in the class. These problems should be completed before the next class. Some times, additional problems will be given during the class and those also should be completed before the next lecture.
  5. The lecture notes will be randomly evaluated my myself or TA's and with out any prior notice. In short, the class participation mark is awarded for a student who diligently follows the lectures. Lecture notes completed by copying from other students or from the lecture notes in web page (just before mid-sem or end-sem) will not fetch any class participating marks.
  6. If you miss the lectures for medical reason, keep the slip with you till the end of the course.
  7. Take the course seriously for in case you get an FR, I will not be able to help you for I will NOT offer this course next semester and will NOT conduct any winter/summer/self study course.
