Dr. Prakash Nanthagopalan is presently working as Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), actively engaged in teaching, research and consultancy in construction materials with an emphasis on the transformation of knowledge to practice.
He obtained his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 2009 in the area of Self Compacting Concrete.
After his Ph.D., he worked as Senior Project Officer in various R&D projects at IIT Madras. Later, he joined as Assistant Professor at NIT Calicut and worked till June 2011. Since July 2011, he is working at IIT Bombay.
His areas of active research include Rheology of cement-based materials, Blast and ballistic resistant concrete, Lime and cement-based plasters, Industrial and Agro-based by-products utilization in concrete. His research team includes Ph.D., M. Tech. and B.Tech students. His research team actively publishes the technical work in Peer-Reviewed Journals, Conferences and Magazines. He is continuously delivering technical presentations on topics related to new developments/technology in concrete to various institutions/organizations.
He received the “Young Faculty Award” (2011), “Excellence in Teaching Award” (2014, 2018 and 2021) at IIT Bombay and "NSG Counter IED Innovator Award (2022)" from National Security Guard, Government of India.
