Project 2 - Kowsik Bodi

    Objectives :

  • Simulation of magnetohydrodynamic flows, in conditions relevant for the Test Blanket Module (TBM) geometry for DEMO/ITER, using commercial and open source CFD solvers
  • Examine the effect of Helium ingress on the MHD flows of interest

    Deliverables :

    At PI/ CI's Institution

  • Ist Year: Literature survey, Identification of governing equations, numerical schemes, boundary conditions models for MHD, Helium ingress in liquid metal and Tritium heat generation. Identify the commercial and open source codes to be used. Implement the appropriate numerical scheme to simulate hydrodynamic flows for simple rectangular geometry in presence of magnetic field of varying strength and compare with literature quoted solutions.
  • IInd Year: MHD flow study in simplified 3-D geometries relevant for the Test Blanket Module using open/commercial CFD code.

    At PC's Institution :

  • Ist Year: Simulation of MHD flow using commercial CFD code available at RSD, BARC for known open case.
  • IInd Year: MHD flow study in simplified 3-D TBM (Test Blanket Module) geometry using commercial CFD code available at RSD, BARC.
