Dr Surender Singh obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in July 2024 and developed innovative solutions for stabilizing tailings pond embankments and investigating the utilization potential of different mine tailings through alkali activation to reduce their environmental impact. He has been involved with the design of tailings ponds embankments and evaluating their stability for future expansions. As a postdoctoral fellow at IIT Bombay, his work aims to reduce the environmental burden of industrial waste (such as rubber tyres, slag, red mud, etc.) by transforming these materials into valuable resources for construction and infrastructure projects. |
