SYNTHESIS OF FLY ASH ZEOLITES FOR OIL SPILL CLEANUP

Microwave assisted silica reduction technique has been employed for synthesis of fly ash zeolites in this study. The influence of various parameters (viz. concentration of HF) on synthesis of zeilites has been investigated and their characteristics vis-a-vis those produced from the conventional hydrothermal treatment has been assesed. Application of the synthesized zeolites for oil spill clean up has been demonstarted.
