USE OF A GEOTECHNICAL CENTRIFUGE FOR CREATING UNSATURATED SOILS.

Environmental problems posed by the contamination of the soil-water system due to the rapid industrialization and other human activities have become relevant in the present day scenario. As such, the remediation of already contaminated lands (fills) and the design of containment systems to prevent further spread of contaminants requires attention, especially from the environmental geotechnics view point. In this report, an attempt has been made to outline the various techniques available for soil remediation, highlighting the limitations and advantages of each technique. A few relevant case studies have also been presented to demonstrate the usefulness and efficiency of these techniques in actual field conditions.
