The Industrial growth has led to the uncontrolled increase of solid waste. This waste is usually dumped in barren lands or natural depressions on the earth's surface. Due to rain water intrusion the solid waste reacts with the water to from leachates which seep out from the landfill. This may lead to settlement problems or ground water pollution. Waste of low density escapes from the landfill into the air thus causes atmospheric pollution. This report serves to examine all such landfill related problems and their solutions.
