Centrifuge Modeling of Contaminant Transport in Soils

The topic of this study deals with the transport of contaminants through soil mass and its different mechanisms involved for such phenomenon. This demonstrates usefulness of modeling transport of contaminant through soils. Also, this study reveals importance and efficiency of column studies for estimating transport phenomenon in soil. With this in view, column studies were conducted on two types of soils that are coarse and fine grained in nature to model the contaminant transport mechanism at 1-g as well as N-g levels. A geotechnical centrifuge has been employed for modelling of contaminant transport at N-g level in fine grained soils. An attempt was also made, in this study, to develop a relationship between electrical conductivity and concentration of the solution.
